Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is very important to us as an organisation, meaning we’re committed to ethical and sustainable business practices.
We take account of our impact, not only from a social, economic viewpoint but also the environment.
After all, we believe this responsibility is good for the planet, our employees, customers and the wider community.
We believe we have four main areas of responsibility. Read on to learn more about how we approach each area.
We believe in giving back to the communities that helped us get to where we are today. As such, this year we have decided to embark on an adventure with services to see how we can help give back.
We are currently looking into setting up a Coder Dojo at a local school to help children learn to code. This is an exciting opportunity for all of us as we feel passionate about passing on our knowledge and enthusiasm along to the younger generation.
We also have a keen interest in volunteering here at Netshell, with members of staff already being involved with different charities across the country.
In this spirit, we have decided that for our Summer company away day we will be volunteering with a local charity as part of our corporate volunteering goals.
Keep an eye on our Insights page to see what we get up to in the coming months.
Here at Netshell, we believe our planet is important. That's why we make every effort to ensure we keep our carbon footprint as small as possible.
We hate waste. Where possible, we always recycle. This not only refers to our (limited) paper usage, but our old hardware such as servers and computers.
All of our lights use low energy light bulbs and will turn off automatically if no movement is detected. This makes it easy to ensure nothing is left on when we leave the building.
We arrange our client meetings using online technologies, thus keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible. If we do need to travel to a client's location, we will ensure that our journey is as environmentally friendly as possible by using public transport of carpooling.
Further to this, in an effort to keep our emissions down even more, we are part of the Cycle to Work program. Employees have the option to buy a new bike instead of having to drive to work.
We understand everyone is different, in fact, we don't just understand we embrace it.
Ensuring that the team is diverse can bring extra skills and viewpoints, which in turn help us to challenge ourselves and share knowledge that might not be otherwise available to us.
A large portion of our work includes working with operators within the gambling and betting sector. It is important to us that gambling is done in a safe and honest way that is fair and transparent.
This includes the prevention of crime and protection of children and other vulnerable people who could be harmed or exploited by gambling.
We are licensed by the Gambling Commission in the UK to provide and modify remote software to gambling operators.
As such we consider the License conditions and codes of practice, as published by the Gambling Commission, whenever we are conducting business with an operator within the Gambling Sector.
Our software therefore is designed, developed and supported with the necessary Technical Standards required.
Each year we donate to the Gamble Aware charity fulfilling our obligations within our license conditions and codes of practice. We want to ensure make sure that gaming stays fun and that those who may need help get the support they need.
